Cannabis Biz
Like so many others in this country, I am eagerly anticipating the day when Australian laws finally change to decriminalise cannabis. The sense of shame that often surrounds this issue can feel really overwhelming, especially for those of us working hard to recover from chronic mental and physical health challenges. For me, incorporating cannabis into my mental health management plan is essential, and I’m grateful to have a supportive, specialised general practitioner taking care of me.
However, for most, it can be pretty tough to find doctors who truly understand the benefits of cannabis and aren’t discouraged by the stigma attached to it. Plus, filling a prescription at a pharmacy is often a hefty expense, costing over $150 per visit, which can be challenging for many to bear. I genuinely hope that as our medical field grows and evolves, we see new training programs and a shift in perspectives toward this remarkable plant, both for medical and recreational use. I often dream of owning a cannabis farm where I can grow, create, and sell products I trust and use myself. This would give me the chance to advocate for the safe and effective use of cannabis as a way to enhance health and well-being, specifically its role in recovering from alcoholism and mental health issues. Cannabis has profoundly changed my life for the better, and I’m passionate about advocating for its recognition and acceptance. I genuinely believe it has the power to transform the medical landscape and, if made legally safe for recreational use, could also create tremendous opportunities for business growth in our struggling economy.
